Dr. Mike Majmundar, double board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, performs natural neck liposuction for the residents of Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, and the surrounding communities in Georgia.
Natural Neck liposuction is a commonly performed procedure in Atlanta and in our practice. It is a minimally invasive procedure with low risk, little downtime and high yield results. Neck liposuction candidates are under the age of 45 for Caucasians, and under 50 for darker skin types, and have mild to moderate fullness under their chin, also called a double chin. Many of these same patients have a recessed chin or may claim that they’ve never had a neck; these patients may do well with some form of chin augmentation in addition to neck liposuction if Dr. Majmundar feels this would provide your face with a better balance, especially on the side or profile view.
Neck liposuction can be performed under sedation or general anesthesia. Because the neck needs to be numbed before the procedure begins, having some form of sedation is recommended to minimize the sensation from the needles that instill the local anesthesia. Once anesthetized, a small incision is made under the chin, and depending on the person, behind the ear lobes on both sides, to give a nice improvement in not just the neckline but also the jawline. Any chin implant can be placed through the same incision if one is needed. Once finished, the neck wrap is placed around the head overnight. Neck Liposuction is commonly performed with our Natural Mini-Necklift, Natural Mini-Facelift, Natural Facelift, and Natural Necklift surgeries but is frequently performed by itself. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis in our fully accredited ambulatory surgery center and patient returns to see us the next morning.
Downtime is usually 5-7 days for bruising to subside and to be socially presentable. Neck liposuction is a highly gratifying procedure because it usually takes 20-30 minutes to perform and yields a great result with little downtime.
For those who can’t afford a week off, a nonsurgical necklift may be an option.
