Dr. Mike Majmundar, double board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, performs natural male facelifts for the residents of Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, and the surrounding communities in Georgia.
The Natural Male Facelift, created by Dr. Mike Majmundar, is a procedure that addresses moderate to severe facial and neck skin laxity in men without the stigma of a facelift. As men age, the definition around the chin, jaw, and neck becomes poorly defined. It is extremely important to find a surgeon who understands the significance of a strong jaw, chin, and neck line as it relates to virility, youthfulness, vitality, and attractiveness to the opposite sex, but, at the same time, can balance the above with a natural and harmonious look to avoid the stigma of having had plastic surgery.
The Natural Male Facelift differs from other male facelifts in 4 major ways.
- Unlike traditional male facelift techniques that focus only on improving jowling and neck laxity, the Natural Male Facelift technique improves jowling, neck heaviness, and specifically targets the jawline and neckline in men to restore the definition of the angle of the mandible below the ear, the contour of the chin, and the jawline in between. Liposuction of the neck is commonly used in combination to sharpen the jawline and chin. Sometimes volumizers or implants along the jawline or the chin are used to enhance these areas if desired.
- Unlike other male facelifts that rely on pulling the skin to obtain the lift, in our Natural Male Facelift, tissues underneath the skin are tightened instead followed by a gentle redraping of the facial and neck skin over the tightened tissues. Excess skin is still removed, but because we don’t rely on pulling the skin to get the lift, we can avoid a pulled or overdone appearance everytime which
minimizes the feared stigma of having had a facelift.
- Because the skin isn’t pulled tightly, there is less tension on the incision when sutured back together. When skin is pulled too tightly, it can not only give a man a pulled look but it also causes the scars to widen and become unsightly. This is a problem for women who wear their hair up or for men who have short hair. By avoiding this stress on the skin with the Natural Male Facelift, the incisions heal almost invisibly allowing men to wear their hair any way they want.
- Greater than 90% of men undergoing the Natural Male Facelift do not complain about pain after the night of surgery. Every person has a different pain tolerance and, as such, pain medicine is provided to every patient; however, greater than 90% of patients undergoing this procedure use nothing more than Tylenol after the first night.
The downtime with the procedure averages 14 days. Downtime is a bit longer for men because men tend to bruise more than women (since men have more facial hair which means more blood flow to the facial skin) and men, in general, don’t have the advantage of knowing how to cover the bruising using makeup to get back to work sooner (though our staff will train you on cover up if interested). The first week, we ask our patients not to perform any heavy lifting, bending over, or strenuous activities. On day 7, we let our male patients resume those activities but bruising will still usually take, on average, 14 days from the date of surgery to resolve so men can be presentable.
Anesthesia: IV sedation or general anesthesia
Procedure Length: On average, 2 ½ – 3 hours
Recovery: On average, 14 days for bruising to resolve.
